All Hallows Eve
Last year for Halloween I remember my mom asking me over & over if I was feeling ok. "I'm fine, why?" -- "Like, I don't know. Are you tired? You look like sh*t." I laughed so hard when she said that, but I remember thinking "damn!" She called me the next day asking me again how I was feeling. "I don't want you to take this the wrong way... but I think you're pregnant.." That woman called it early. She even said it was going to be a boy! I remember telling G. about it & even though we were already planning our wedding & had talked about kids, this seemed funny to us. "No way!" I kept telling myself. I can't remember how many weeks later after my mom said that I had a normal 'ladies' appointment. The ladies in the doctor's office asked me to do what we ladies normally have to do prior to the actual checkup, I sit on the hospital bed & wait. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary until my doctor & two nurses walk in, tablets in hand & say "CONGRATULATIONS! You're going to be a mom!" I stared at them for what felt like an hour & my hands started shaking. I know she talked to me about something & her minions also said a few words I can't really remember. It was all done, I left & walked to my car. I remember feeling a huge grin plastered on my face when I dialed G's number. "So... I'm pregnant" -- "Are you serious!?" -- "I'm pregnant! - We're having a baby!!"
G. & I were really excited to celebrate the Hallows this year. We carved our pumpkins a few weeks ago, talked every week about our costumes & looked up things to do on Halloween. October 31st showed up & nothing really went as planned. The weather has been pretty terrible down here in Houston. Lots of rain & humidity ruined our pumpkins. G. & I got really lazy & didn't really feel like dressing up. All the outdoor plans we made.. again, ruined by the rain. But, we made the absolute best of it. My brother & his family came to stay with us to celebrate the holiday together. That, of course, is always the best! Maximus & Amelia were the CUTEST bears! I mean, I took a ton of pictures of these two (that look exactly the same since they can't really pose. LOL). I was kind of giving up on going anywhere, but I'm so glad Sisybae kept bringing it up. We ended up getting dressed last minute & headed to City Center for some trick-or-treats. Our tiny babies stayed in their strollers most of the time, but it was SO cute seeing a ton of little ones running around in their costumes. Next year, that will probably be our little ones. Once we got hungry, we enjoyed a yummy meal in the outdoor patio at Yard House. I have to tell you I was a bit sad when G. came back from changing Maximus' diaper & noticed he wasn't in his costume. Yeap, our little man peed all over himself & thought it was hilarious. After dinner we decided to head back home to watch scary movies & hang out as we usually do. Ladies & gentlemen, this was not your typical evening. We've entered a new stage in our lives & remember, there are four babies now. There was a lot of crying, feeding, sleepy little ones, beers, no movies, some scary & yucky minty cupcakes, more crying & way too many laughs (by us, the parents). They all made fun of me for getting Tootsie Rolls as 'the candy'. I LOVE Tootsie Rolls though! We started watching Children of the Corn & of course, I fell asleep. I don't even know if they actually finished it or not. LOL! All in all, I have to say that even with the tiny things that didn't go as planned, G., Maximus & I had a great first Halloween day/weekend.
I hope you all had a great one & had better candy than mine. Muhaha.
*Note -- We've been asked to keep bebe Riley off the interwebs until the parents feel comfy doing so. For now, enjoy his cute little puppy head. :)
