A New Chapter in Motherhood

A New Chapter in Motherhood

Parenting is hard. Have a cookie.

So, I have officially transitioned from being a full-time working mom to a stay-at-home mom & I am loving it. It's been a dream of mine since Maximus was born for me to stay home & raise him & our future children. Baby Matthew has arrived & being given the opportunity to stay home to spend my days with both boys is truly a dream come true.

Maximus is at the wonderful age where he loves learning & exploring new things & places. Baby Matthew loves to by cuddled & hang on me, which makes wandering & teaching Maximus go smoothly. Every day brings on a new adventures & challenge, which makes this dynamic so interesting. We have a schedule in place, yet somehow every day is different. Especially when I want to include getting groceries or running errands to the mix. For the most part I think we're doing good & I'm excited to start Maximus' homeschool year (which had to be delayed due to Hurricane Harvey). I'll go more into detail about that on another post. For now, here's the schedule we have in place:

7:00 a.m. - Wake up, brush teeth & play

7:30 a.m. - Eat breakfast together & clean-up

8:00 a.m. - Get dressed (have him choose his clothes)

8:30 a.m. - Crafts, hands-on activity, book activity

9:00 a.m. - Sensory play or small worlds play

9:30 a.m. - Reading time

10:00 a.m. - Snack time

10:30 a.m. - Play time (outdoors if possible)

11:30 a.m. - Lunch

12:00 p.m. - Free play (Around this time I do chores)

1:00 p.m. - Rest time

3:00 p.m. - Play time (Outdoors if possible)

5:30 p.m. - Dinner

His schedule hasn't changed too drastically considering he was already in school a few months ago. A routine also makes it easier to transition from working in an office, where I had a pretty strict routine to maintaining somewhat of the control I had in my office at home.

I'm also excited that Autumn is around the corner. Now that I am home I really want to start focusing more on crafts that we can do for the seasons together. Not just to keep Maximus busy, but I really want to start creating more traditions with him & in turn, more memories. I want to eventually create books that will contain all of the little work he does through-out the year. So far we have just four little projects I've saved from when he was in school, which I'll keep to add to his 2017 book. I'm SO looking forward to start, even though the year is almost over. Have to start somewhere right?

Are you a stay-at-home momma? What do you like to do with your kids? Any tips & tricks to keep your day going smoothly? I'd love to hear your ideas & suggestions.
